Toad Hall Poster
Our collection currently features books by local authors Stephen Vogler, Kelsey Bareham, Leslie Anthony, Sara Leach, and Sylvia Dolson. In addition to these, we have a number of books on locally relevant subjects including skiing, mountaineering, animals, weather, and local history.
Whether you are a local to the area or are just visiting, one of our most popular items that we carry is the Toad Hall print. Famously taken in 1973 in front of Toad Hall which was then an old logging cabin and home to many of Whistler's "ski bums" it depicts the care-free nature of the 70's. The Museum carries originals from the first printing of the photo in 1973, no copies here!
We are also proud to carry Florence Peterson's book First Tracks: Whistler's Early History, all about the history of the area, and Discover Nature as well. Discover Nature was created by and for the Museum in association with the Whistler Naturalists and the Whistler Biodiversity Project and is full of fun and informative activities for kids.
Cards and Postcards
We have produced historical cards and postcards fromour collection of photos, which depict scenes from Whistler's early days. We also have a number of handpainted cards by Isobel MacLaurin and cards by Chili Thom and Vanessa Stark.
Gifts for Kids
We have books and toys for all ages. From our 'Bear Smart' playing cards to our collection of plush toys, there's something for kids of all ages. We have a great collection of local kids' books including 'Mountain Machines' by local author Sara Leach and 'Wally Learns to Ski' by local author Kelsey Bareham.
