Artifact Collection

Pioneer Era

We have many interesting objects that relate to the early pioneer and lodge life in the community of Alta Lake. Original furniture from Rainbow Lodge and Myrtle Philip's riding gloves are highlights of the collection.

Mountain and Resort History

The development of skiing in Whistler has created fascinating memorabilia from the 1960s and onward. We have some good examples of skis, boots, and outerwear from the original skiers, as well as Whistler Mountain staff uniforms and other examples of early "logo wear".

Olympic History

The Museum has an extensive collection of documents and artifacts from the six Olympic bids made by Whistler. The Olympic dream has played an important role in the development of the mountains and local community.

Natural History

We have a unique collection of local and trans-migratory birds in our natural history collection. This collection is the only one of its kind in BC. We were able to develop the collection and the exhibition in partnership with A.W.A.R.E (Association of Whistler Area Residents for the Environment) and the Whistler Naturalists.
